Members of the society were asked by Springfields Horticultural Society to create tiles in the Delft style for a competition – these are the results.
The tiles will be judged soon. 1st & 2nd places will be decided by a team of judges. There will also be a public vote. This will take place online – details will be shared once this goes live.
The tiles will form part of a larger display at the Springfields Festival Gardens.
Due
to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, the committee have taken the
decision to cancel the remaining demonstrations for this year. We
hope to resume in February but will continue to monitor the
situation.
Subscriptions
paid this year will be carried forward to 2021.
July
& August meetings are now cancelled due to the ongoing situation.
We hope to resume in September. Please check the website, Facebook
page & your emails for updates.
Sadly
our July Ayscoughfee Exhibition is also cancelled.
Please
help support the society by paying your subs which were due at the
April meeting, either by bank transfer or cheque. Please let Ann
Dring know that you have paid. The society has expenses to pay even
if we are not meeting at the moment. Many thanks to those who have
already paid.
There
is now a Facebook group for members of the society so that we can
still have challenges & maintain some contact. Click on the link
on our Facebook Page to request to join – just a couple of questions
to confirm you are a paid up member.
In
light of the latest directives the committee have decided to cancel
the April & May demonstration meetings, the Spring Flower Show
Competition & the April & May Hub meetings. We are waiting to
hear whether the Pinchbeck Church exhibition will be cancelled, but
it probably will. We will make a decision at the end of April re
further meetings.
Please
help support the society by paying your subs which were due at the
April meeting, either by bank transfer or cheque. Please let Ann
Dring know that you have paid.
I
am setting up a closed Facebook group for members so that we can
still have challenges & maintain some contact.
Hopefully
this will just be a temporary blip in our existence but in the
meantime keep safe & Happy Painting.
Having
discussed the government’s latest advice on the virus the committee
have decided that demonstrations and ‘painting together’ sessions
will go ahead as normal unless the picture changes.
It
would be very helpful if you could arrive with the correct money for
entry & raffle to save handling change.
If
you feel unwell – a cough which has come on recently, a high
temperature, shortness of breath, headaches – please stay away from
the meetings.
If
Pinchbeck Village Hall or the Hub shuts, we will lose our
meeting-place and meetings will have to be cancelled or postponed.
Similarly, if the demonstrator is forced to cancel at short notice,
the event will not go ahead. Until then, assume the programme will be
fulfilled as normal but check your emails regularly, especially near
to planned events. The information will also be on Facebook & the
website
Entries not due in until 7th April but this gives you time
to plan.
‘Daffodils
to Dahlias – Springfields Gardens through the Seasons‘
Competition
Springfields Horticultural Society are again sponsoring a competition for our members. This will be held at the Spring Flower & Gardening Show 18/19th April in the Springfields Events Centre
There
will be prizes for 1st, 2nd & Public vote
The
subject can cover any aspect of the gardens, be it flowers that grow
there or scenes of the garden in any season. Images to be no larger
than 20” x 20” including any mount or frame. Mounted paintings
should be wrapped in cellophane – we do have a few mounts/cellophane
wrappers left for an 8”x12” picture.
Remember
that we are an Arts & Crafts Society so entries can be textiles,
embroideries etc but must be able to be hung.
Framed
pictures / canvas on a frame must be strung properly for hanging –
the little hooks etc on bought frames are not enough. Hand in will be
on the 7th April at the demonstration. Unsold paintings
will be brought to the 5th May demo meeting. One entry per
person.
There
are reference photos on the website for anyone that needs them.
Spalding Arts & Crafts Society is a friendly group of local artists, founded in 1916, always ready to welcome new members. See our website for full details.
